Our pricing for OutBookX is relatively simple. We are a platform for bookings and transactions and we charge the hunting outfitters and fishing lodges an annual license fee plus a percentage fee of the online transaction amounts. The payment platform that we use is Stripe. The percentage we charge is based on whether you, the outfitter or lodge, have your own Stripe account, or if you are using our Stripe acccount. If you do not have a Stripe account, we can help you get set up with one.
Annual license fee: $500
Annual license fee: $0
Standard Stripe fees are 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. By their definition, a standard fee applies when a transaction occurs from a card based in a country makes a payment to a Stripe account with a bank account in the same country in the same currency. For example, a USA based credit card paid to a USA based bank account, both in USD currency.
The same Stripe fees would apply for a Canadian credit card charge paid to a Canadian based bank account, with both in CAD currency.
The key details here are where the payment is coming from and where the payment is going. The Stripe documentation on this is a bit lengthy which is why we have summarized the points that matter here. So now we will try to explain what happens when a non-standard charge occurs, that is, it does not fit the definition of a standard, domestic charge.
USA based card, USD currency price, USD bank account at a Canadian bank. This is considered a cross-border transaction and will be subject to an additional 0.8% fee for Stripe Fees of 3.7% plus $0.30 per transaction.
USA based card, USD currency price, CAD bank account at a Canadian bank. This is considered a cross-border transaction plus currency exchange and will be subject to an additional 2% currency conversion plus 0.8% fee for Stripe Fees of 5.7% plus $0.30 per transaction.
As an option, you can choose to add an "admin fee" or "convenience fee" to your own fees to recover some or all of the Stripe and OBX fees. We have a simple option setup in the account settings to provide a name and a percentage amount to charge over and above your Trip Pricing. For example, for a $1000 trip deposit, you can choose to add a 2% Admin Fee, bringing the Trip price to $1020 (before taxes). This way a portion of the payment fees will be covered. This is an optional pricing configuration.
